In Samvat year 1958, Swami Isvarcharanadasji, etc. saints were going to Kutch from Gujarat. After going to Navlakhi from Morbi they boarded the steamer at Navlakhi. When the steamer started, a ship came in front of it. The sail of the ship got entangled in the pillar of the steamer and the steamer leaned on one side and the pillar broke. When it was repaired, the journey began and they got down at Khari road. There lived Ghelabhai Purusottam a Bhatia gentleman of Anjar. He made Swami Isvarcharanadasji, etc. saint to sit in his horse-carriage (sigram) and Swami asked him if he was satsangi. He said that though he was not satsangi, he was the friend of Seth Karamshibhai Damji who was their satsangi. He added that when he started from Mumbai it came to his mind that his wife and children and all his wealth were with him. Therefore, he avoided coming by steamer from Mumbai and boarded the steamer at Navlakhi so it would be safe. Here also they were about to be drawn but luckily they were saved. He thought that saints of Swaminarayana were very religious minded and the steamer was saved because of them. Knowing thus they were taken in his sigram. They went to Anjar. The said gentleman sent a man to Swami and asked how much ration they required. Swamisri said that they could not take food on that day because they had sat in steamer. On the following day they got a bullock cart and went to Bhuj. That gentleman sent the ration in the temple but Swamisri, etc. were not there so he went to Bhuj by Victoria and there he gave them ration and gave dhoti. Swami Isvarcharanadasji told him that they were going to Bapasri’s darsan by whose power the steamer was saved. That gentleman went with them. Bapasri was climbing down the steps of the Vrspur temple and they went to Bapasri. Bapasri met Swamisri, etc. saints, asked them where they would have been had the pillar not broken. Swami said that they would have been with him. Bapasri said, “I broke the pillar with a view to saving you and saved the steamer. That pillar was put by me in such a manner that nobody would be injured. Hearing this the Seth was very much surprised and prayed to Bapasri and saints that he was very powerful and requested Bapasri to liberate him by his power. Then he went to his village. Bapasri said to Swami Isvarcharanadasji, “You are suffering from jaundice so you have come here with a sankalpa to leave this world but you will not be allowed to die. Then Bapasri offered him a loaf of millet.” Swami said that he had no inclination for any food. Bapasri told him that now he would like food and asked him to take food. After offering thal to Ṭhakorji was over, Bapasri fed Swami Isvarcharanadasji one fourth loaf. Thus Swami was made happy for six days by association and then he was told by Bapasri to go to Jetalpur without halting at Bhuj, Muli, Amdavad, etc. Swamisri, etc. saints went to Bhuj. There a devotee of Mankuva had come with their carts to take saints with him. parayana was to be held there, so Swami Aksarjivandasji and devotees took him to Mankuva by a strong entreaty. Bapasri came there and asked Swami why he had come there instead of going to Jetalpur. Swami said that devotees and saints insisted much so had to come and when the katha would be over, he will plan to go. Then Bapasri said, “Now we shall go to Vrspur because Swami Bhagavatcharandasji’s new saint Baldevcharandas was to fall ill and you had to do his nursing so you were permitted to go but now you will not be able to go. Tomorrow Swami Vrndavandasji and Baldevcharandasji the mahant of Dholaka, Bapubhai of Kanotar, Pitamberbhai of Ranoḍa, etc. devotees will come so problem of nursing him, will be solved.” On the next day Swami Vrndavandasji, etc. came and the katha was over on the seventh day. Swamisri, etc. went to Vrspur. There that saint became ill and in his illness some passion came to his mind. At the time when he was to leave his body, Bapasri asked Swami Vrndavandasji and Swami Isvarcharanadasji that this saint was going to leave this world today. So preach him and keep his tendency in Mūrti. Both Sadgurus preached much but he could not understand anything and did not give up passion. Bapasri said, “He who leaves his body in this place and becomes ghost and makes trouble at his home, it will hurt my prestige so I will not let him remain incomplete.” Bapasri and saints went to him and the cot which was in the room was brought in the porch. Bapasri gave him darsan of Maharaj and made him forget his body. Then Bapasri asked Swamisri, etc. saints to prepare thal and offer to Ṭhakorji. Saints offered thal and then asked Bapasri to get his body leave this world. Bapasri said that Maharaj wanted to go to bed so he would be taken afterwards. When it was half past one, Swami Isvarcharanadasji said that Maharaj would have waken up now. Bapasri told him to go and have bath. Swamisri, etc. saints bathed and said that fetch that saint. Bapasri said that Maharaj wanted to listen to devotional songs so chant them. Saints chanted devotional songs. At that time Swami Isvarcharanadasji said that it was three o’clock and it would be evening soon. Bapasri said that Maharaj was hungry and He wanted to eat so feed Him. Then He would take him. Swamisri asked if he should prepare sukhaḍi. Bapasri said that He would not wait for that much time so would offer Him some fruit. Bapasri himself climbed the guava tree and brought the guava. Swami Isvarcharanadasji got the guava cut in pieces and it was offered to Mūrti by Bapasri himself. At that time Swamisri was standing nearby Bapasri, he told Swamisri that now Maharaj had eaten the thal and went to fetch saint. Bapasri told them to go, otherwise mattresses would become untouchable. Swami Isvarcharanadasji went hurriedly, removed saint from cot and put on floor and soon left his body. On the following day Bapasri told Swami Isvarcharanadasji in the assembly that he was ill and he wanted to leave his body after coming over there, but he became all right and the other saint left his body. Therefore, he had to be kept now. Swami Vrndavandasji asked Bapasri, where that saint had been placed. Bapasri said he was taken instead of Swami Isvarcharanadasji so, where he could be placed-he was placed in Mūrti. || 18 ||
